3 Trends for now & beyond

Well…. over a month ago I went to London Fashion Weekend, and took Laurie, aged 1 month, with me. I wasn’t their official blogger this year, as I didn’t think breastfeeding and catwalks mixed that well. But I did get some photos, and wanted to share with you the trends that I think are important. Many claim that there are new trends every season, which is true to an extent. But my time as a fashion buyer showed me that most trends stick around for several seasons to come. Plus true style never goes out of fashion.

Velvet

Velvet is always important at Christmas, but this season it’s even bigger. We were all in love with Jenna Coleman’s portrayal of Victoria on ITV recently. Unsurprisingly the decadence of the fabrics from this era has translated into everyday fashion.

Big Sleeves

This is my favourite new trend, because it is slightly bonkers. Think flares on your arms.

Mustard & Stripes

Nautical stripes are a staple in any wardrobe. I love this combination with the mustard, just makes blue and white stripes feel new and interesting again.

We also saw the amazing Edeline Lee catwalk, which satisfied my love of clean design in daring silhouettes and bold colour:

A friend asked me how I managed to do it with such a mini Laurie. So I thought I’d tell you. A kind friend looked after Daisy, my mum helped me navigate the tube, get Laurie to sleep and change his nappy. You see I’m not super woman. Oh and did you notice this happened over a MONTH ago. Life moves a bit slower with kids!

The trend catwalk was brought to London Fashion Weekend by online fashion retailer Avenue 32. To view their website click here.

London Fashion Weekend will be back in February 2017, watch this space….

Jemima has some velvet dresses. At 16mths, she is more trendy than me! (Although I do own some stripes 😉

I’m sure that’s not true Kate! Though Jemima is a very trendy little lady x
