It’s Organic September, and as promised over the next few weeks I’ll be featuring some of the best organic clothing and beauty brands available. Today I’d like to introduce you to Turtle Dove London, a unisex children’s clothing brand for aged 0-5 years.
It’s a very new and exciting brand, this is only their 2nd collection. Good design and sustainability are at the heart of all they do. Apart from a few dress shapes, all styles are gender neutral designed to be passed between siblings, Daisy to Laurie and beyond (don’t worry, no plans for another baby!) This season the collection is titled ‘Love & Protect’ and so their prints features endangered animals such as the panda and bee.
The colour pallet is simple, monochrome prints and stripes with a colour highlight. This season the highlight is a soft ginger which they’ve called ‘Bees Bottom’, fantastic. All the clothes are made from GOTS certified organic cotton, so on a practical level they are über comfy and washable, essential if your child is as feral as Daisy! I also love the attention to detail on each garment, back neck tapes hide unsightly seams and the poppers on the playsuit are brass coloured which complements the soft ginger of the bee.
I confess one reason I often don’t buy organic clothing is due to the price labels attached. It can seem absurd to spend a huge amount of money on your child’s clothing when you know they will either grow out of it, or trash it. Thankfully Turtle Dove London’s clothing is very reasonably priced. The dungarees are £20, tops from £14 and playsuits £20.
