A Ballade of the Wide Leg Trouser

Amidst the hustle and bustle of Scotland’s capital was the scene for our latest shoot. But what to wear? That perpetual unanswerable question. Despite it being June, Edinburgh was notoriously cold, but I still wanted to feel like I was in summer clothing. The wide leg trouser is without a doubt the newest and most exciting trouser shape of this season. Mainly, because it gives us a little break from our jeans. In a summer so dominated by our love of denim fabric, in every guise, sometimes it’s nice to break free and wear something a little different.

What I love about the wide leg Trouser shape is just how flattering they are; they hide a multitude of sins and give you a lovely elongated silhouette. The black trousers pictured are from the relaunched, super sleek, online shopping hot spot, Atterley. They are a personal favourite of mine, due to the fact that their product hits the nail on the head in terms of fashion, is affordable, good quality and delivers to my door! They have managed to do something different from the high street, by offering wearable key wardrobe staples, instead of a myriad of trends for twenty something, skinny waifs. Their shiny new website has a Scandi feel to it, with very minimal clean lines.  image

A Breton stripe top is always a key piece in any wardrobe, to be brought out season after season #sustainablefashion, whether you opt for the traditional navy and cream or be a bit more adventurous and play with other colours such a red and white. If you want to own the original article then take a look at the brand Saint James – a French brand that have existed since 1850, when they made Breton stripe tops to protect fisherman from the elements. Today all their garments are still made in their factory in the village of Saint James in France, and they also can boast dressing the French Navy and Army with their official uniform sweaters! Atterley are stockists of Saint James Breton tops.

A Ballade is a form of verse, often a narrative set to music. I can’t claim to write poetry, but read my post listening to your favourite song, and have a cup of tea.
