Sleep, zzzzzz, it’s something we’d all like a bit more of and wished our children were better at. Newborns are no exception. Getting Daisy and Laurie to sleep well has been the holy grail. I write this after spending nearly 2 hours battling an exhausted Laurie, both him and I are in tears. As a result, I’ve poured over hundreds of books and spent far too much time surfing the baby sleep site for top tips.
The number one tip that I’ve learnt has been about establishing a good bed/nap time routine. In our house we have a little story, wave goodbye to Mr. Sunshine and say a prayer. Then they are put to bed with their comforter. Daisy has hedgehog and Laurie a horse. Hedgehog started life with a blanket attached, but it’s now sadly decapitated, awaiting major surgery! But it has become such an essential part of the sleep routine, that most evenings we have a mad panic pre bed running around trying to find it.
Laurie has this gorgeous Moulin Roty comforter from Jeujouet. It’s a French online retailer specialising in good quality toys, clothes and nursery decor that has just launched in the UK. Yeah! They sell lots of different Moulin Roty animal comforters, which is great as they are super cute and we all know kids love animals. I particularly like the fact that you can customise the comforter with your child’s name, and select a font and colour. It makes it a great present for a newborn baby.
We picked the horse, named Zadig, as it has a super soft blanket body and ring for teething. Laurie isn’t quite at that stage yet, but he loves eating Zadig’s ears! The Moulin Roty range of comforters also has some with a muslin attached, another fabric I know kids love. I have a friend who scours ebay for a particular print of M&S muslins that her son loves. I’m sure at sooner or later we’ll be stocking up on more of Zadig to keep Laurie happy.
