Confessions of an Exercise Phobe

Mothercare Activewear-8Exercise. Confess, how much do you actually do? If the NHS sponsored this post, I’d be encouraging you to keep fit and healthy whilst pregnant, and be the perfect example of how to do that. But that would be hypocritical. I used to be quite active, yet the challenge of looking after a toddler and being pregnant has made me woefully remiss.

At #36weekspregnant exercise equals: walking, trying to do 10 mins of Pilates each day and the occasional swim in Crouch End’s Lido. Because normal life just leaves me physically tired. In fact I’ve just spent 4 hours seeing medical practitioners because they were concerned about my breathlessness. They didn’t want to hear that due to a miscommunication with Dr. husband, I had to rush Daisy to nursery, run home, grab a bite for breakfast, and hop, skip and jump to get to the midwife appointment. That would leave me breathless at #0weeks let alone #36weekspregnant!

That said, unsurprisingly I do feel better when I make time for myself to exercise. I’m sure like you, I sleep better and am generally nicer. So, once Twiglet is born I’d like to make getting back in shape a priority, though with two kids that will be a challenge! You may have to hold me accountable to that.

Now, there’s something about owning lovely activewear, which I find encourages me to do exercise. Thankfully Mothercare have just launched a range of great maternity sports clothing. They’ve used great fabrics which are breathable, quick dry, windproof and water-repellent for optimum performance. I opted for the space dye grey leggings, which is really comfy as the waistband sits over my bump, a bright orange vest and lovely warm zip up top. Ok I won’t be using the zip up top much now, but I’ll be wearing these post birth right into winter so it will definitely come in handy.  In a genius move, they’ve also added in a nursing sports bra, so there’ll no excuses on that front.
