Getting Naked at Breakfast

I’m sure there are some scenarios where getting naked during breakfast is acceptable. But, a posh hotel at breakfast is not one of them, even if you are 2. Last weekend Dr. Husband, Daisy, bump and I went to a wedding in Cambridge. The wedding was everything, I could have wished for. A marquee in a garden so Daisy could run around, a special kids tea put on at a very sensible time, babysitters provided so we could eat a lavish meal in peace whilst she slept. Heaven for a parent.

The hotel was equally lovely, but I’m not sure the guests or staff were used to a 2 year-old’s antics. It all started with a #parentfail, we forgot to bring a bib. Unusually for a toddler, Daisy hates being dirty, but still hasn’t learnt to successfully manoeuvre her food from a plate into her mouth. After several yoghurt and Weetabix spillages she decided enough was enough and started striping. At this point a helpful lady decided to comment on our “wilful” child and recall a story about her grandchild being wilful and how she’d really like to properly discipline her. Aghhh.

I’ll give Daisy credit, despite the naked incident she was remarkably well behaved. But, after a good 20 minutes of sitting politely and eating, she thought a little exploring couldn’t hurt, naked of course. Despite my best efforts I hadn’t managed to persuade her to put her clothes back on. Just a little wander into the adjacent room to see what additional food was on offer. I was then told very politely and firmly to keep my child under control as they were “concerned” for her safety. You’ll be glad to hear that despite feeling like a small animal was being let loose in my chest, the very British part of me kicked in and I smiled and nodded politely, “of course, of course.”

After the last wedding #28weekspregnant, I’ve definitely reached the point in my pregnancy where heels aren’t an option. With 5 weeks to go (#35weekspregnant) I can no longer squeeze these feet into kitten heels. So I opted for this old pair of Zara block heels, with plenty of sparkle to still make them feel special. The dress is from Mamalicious at Mothercare. It comes with a belt that you can either tie above or below your bump. This has the lovely effect early on in pregnancy of showing off your figure. But when you reach epic like, pink blancmange pre portions, there isn’t a lot you want to show off!

Pregnancy Style Tip | Ditch heels and opt for sparkles to make you feel special.

Beautiful pattern on your dress. We comnented recently that cuteness in 2 year olds is clearly an evolutionary survival strategy.

I agree, otherwise they’d be put out in the recycling. Daisy is currently testing my patience by refusing a lunch time sleep grrrrrr x

Oh poor you Karen!! Why do people always have to stick their 5 pence in! Only a parent could see the funny side of it…well done you and you look gorgeous, love the dress and sparkles:) x
