I’ve always said, if there is one thing I’d pay someone to do it’s to pack for me for holiday. Since having kids this desire has grown, the sheer amount of clobber you have to take with you just makes me want to stay at home. I’d do a “staycation” if chefs were easy to hire & the UK weather were better.
Well that was until I discovered Airtots, set up after Dad, Ben, did his neck in for third time on holiday. Why? Carrying too much baby equipment through the airport. Their aim is to make traveling with kids easy, and it’s also a wonderfully sustainable and space saving idea. Don’t buy every new item you need, hire it.
Airtots have a whole range of baby equipment for hire. If you’re traveling to London they can provide you with every bit of kit you might need from travel cots, buggies to scooters they’ve got it all covered and they’ll even get it to the airport for you.
Baby Equipment For Hire
But they also have a Flight Ready Service, all the baby equipment for hire that you might need. This is what we tried out on our recent family holiday. I’ll have to admit now that we didn’t actually fly, we went by ferry #slowholiday #wecantaffordexpensiveholidays. But the principal’s the same, lack of space. Years of sitting with my knees up to my chin as my seat well is filled with food, drinks, maps and other gumpf made me determined that this time all the luggage was going in the boot.
Babyzen Yoyo+ Travel Buggy
So we swapped our lovely, but rather larger Flip Xt2 for Airtot’s light and nifty Babyzen Yoyo+ Travel Buggy. It’s compact. In fact it’s one of a few buggies that can fit into the overhead cabin on an aircraft. Plus it can be put up and down with one hand, which was invaluable for Laurie’s inevitable melt-downs as routines went awry. The UPF 50+ sun canopy came in useful when temperatures soared to 38 degrees, as did the rain cover when it poured it down. The other amazing thing about hiring baby equipment is that I got to try out a new buggy without buying it. I’d been told, by several friends, what an amazing, easy buggy it is to push around and now I know that that is true.
Trunki Ride-on Suitcase
To say these were an absolute hit with the kids is an understatement. Their bright coloured animal like appearance was very appealing , and they spent hours playing with them. If you ask Daisy what she’d like for Christmas, the list goes something like this: pedal bike, hairband & Trunki Ride-on Suitcase. From my perspective I loved the fact that they were big enough to fit in all their clothes, shoes & a soft toy, but small enough so you didn’t pack too much. The fact that they kept the kids amused was a bonus too.
Our suitcases and buggy were delivered to our house a day before we left and picked up the day after we got back. It was so easy and straight forward, plus we didn’t have to worry about making sure everything was cleaned as this is covered in the hire charge.
There are other items we could have hired, a travel cot, anti-uv tent and baby carrier to name a few. But as we were limited to space we kept it to what we really needed. And that is the beauty of Airtots, it provides you with what you need when you need it without it costing an arm and a leg as the hire costs are a fraction of buying the item new. Plus you don’t have to store it in your residence afterwards and that has to be a bonus.
