Lotions and potions galore…

Magnitone-8

Have you ever walked into the Boots skin care section and immediately walked out again? I find the sheer amount of choice boggles the brain. Every brand is claiming a new miracle ingredient that will banish those wrinkles and rejuvenate your skin. The baffling part, is that the ingredients are invariably in latin and the prices vary wildly. Recently an Italian man tried to flirt his way into selling me a wrinkle reduce eye cream, that was a very reasonable £300. Let’s just say that the £300 is still safely in my bank account.

Magnitone-10

Like every female I have several skin complaints that I would love to have resolved. Yes wrinkles, but also incredibly dry skin that no amount of oil or face masks seem to be able combat. The wrinkles are growing daily but I notice they look much less prominent when I’ve had 8 hours sleep and have been militant about drinking enough water. The other thing that does help them is a really good moisturiser.

Now, to make sure that a moisturiser really sinks into your skin, you have to have good exfoliation. I’m frequently being told to exfoliate every 3 days. But really does anyone actually have time to regularly exfoliate? Do you have enough space in your brain to remember that it’s day 3? I don’t. I also have super sensitive skin, and often exfoliators are too harsh leaving my skin red and raw, rather than bright and radiant.

Magnitone-2

Recently I was introduced to Magnitone Barfaced!* It’s a daily face brush that you use with your normal cleanser to clean and tone your skin. I’ve been taking part in their Spring Clean-ing challenge: to get clear skin in 30 days. Here’s my thoughts.

  •  I haven’t had any red skin / spot breakouts due to irritated skin.
  •  love the fact it’s gentle enough to be used daily and lives in the shower, so zero brain-power required.
  • I do actually think it helps to allow my moisturiser to sink in. The way I can tell this is the fact that as soon as my moisturiser goes onto my face it disappears rather than leave white marks.
  • The only downside is that it has to be charged, so it’s another electrical item in my life that is in danger of being left battery flat in my bedside drawer (though that hasn’t happened yet.)

At £70 it’s not a cheap option, but they state that if you don’t get visible results in 30 days you’ll get your money back.

Could be worth a try – certain grandchildren have been pointing out my wrinkles…
