A Little Something to Make You Smile

There isn’t a better gift to receive than a bouquet of flowers. They are utterly frivolous and of little use except to give the receiver pleasure. And that, to my mind, is the point of a present. A present is something you wouldn’t buy yourself.

A vicar once told me that when he visited someone he always took flowers, because every time the person looked at those flowers they’d smile. Corny? If you’re a hardened cynic yes, actually I think it’s just very thoughtful. I mean who doesn’t love flowers?

OK Bouquet are an online luxury flower store, that deliver seasonal bouquets directly to your door. They kindly sent me this beautiful bunch of lilies, eucalyptus and huge white roses. They give off the most wonderful aroma and so far have last very well. My flowers are on day 7 and are almost as good as new. Though I will admit to failing to follow their instructions. Apparently if you change the water and cut the stems every few days they will last longer. Note to self, to do this tonight. When they arrived I didn’t have a vase big enough to put them in. I had to make an emergency phone call to a friend whose husband is clearly more generous than mine!

Thankfully they guarantee next day delivery, which is useful for those “****” (fill in the blank with your own expletive) moments when you’ve forgotten your mum’s birthday. They’ve a whole range of flowers and for many of the bouquets you can choose the foliage, be it eucalyptus, palm leaves or gypsophila, which are the tiny white flowers (yes I had to look up what that was too!)

OK Bouquet kindly sent me a luxury bouquet, but all opinions are my own.
