The Statement Knit

Statement Knit-5

I was chatting to a friend recently about really easy mummywear. The kind of clothes you chuck on in the morning, and which survive the general wear and tear of everyday with little ones; sand, food splatter, baby sick, mud, play dough, the list goes on. There is no room for adult clothes in this scenario, silk tops, dresses, heels and cashmere jumpers only get worn to work or on the odd occasion that you have a night out.

Occasionally, the fashion world gifts us mums a gem. An item of clothing that can withstand the rigours of time with children, and looks good. A statement knit is a wonderfully easy chuck on, worn with jeans and a jersey T it is an every day look, with a bit of  “za za zing”, and has the added benefit of being warm! Yes, the children have gone back to school and it is officially Autumn.

I bought my statement knit from Zara, I really need to get over my crush on that shop, but the high street will be full of these cardis doing designer knock offs. Like all trends though ‘new’ this season, it is certainly a trend that’s been around before. Have a look in your local charity shop or vintage store. Opt for a bold prints, after all that is the whole point of this item; a statement knit to add a bit of interest to our mummy uniforms.

Thanks for this advice. I’m tempted to rush off to Zara as this is a look I feel comfortable in.
