Valentines Might Suck, But We Should Still Celebrate It

My husband is the biggest Valentines cynic out there. He rants about how commercial and cheesy it is, and how you can’t manufacture love. This year I caught him trying to book a night out with his friends on the 14th Feb. So I thought in an attempt to persuade him to celebrate Valentines Day, I’d write down all the reasons why we should.

A Date Night

So when was the last time you actually had a date night? You may have a screaming newborn that won’t settle, or a defiant toddler who wont go to bed. Perhaps you spend most evenings being your kids personal taxi service? Either way, unless we intentionally plan in date nights, they just don’t happen. And without them we just become two shattered parents who happen to share the same bed. So turn off your phones, light some candles and spend the evening together.

Underwear MOT

Now when was the last time you bought a new set of underwear? When I visited The Pantry Underwear last week I realised that, aside from nursing bras, I hadn’t purchased anything new since our honeymoon nearly five years ago. Most men I know like nice underwear, and let’s be honest so do we. So let’s love them by giving them something pretty to look at, and not a milk sodden, grey nursing bra.  I came away from The Pantry Underwear with this beautiful body suit, something I’d never dreamed of buying before. Words to Treasure

The forgotten art of writing is a precious one, and the best part? You’re creating a lasting memory. One of Dr. Husband’s strengths is writing me cards. I have a folder of them in my bedside drawer and, unbeknown to him, when we’re having a tough time I pick one to read. I’m then reminded of the wonderful man I married. Gorgeous new stationary brand Taab London, combine painting techniques with written type to create beautiful cards for all occasions. I used their Christmas cards and wrapping paper this year (please click here to view) and am just pondering what to write in these Valentines cards. Cards plural? Well one from me and one from Daisy & Laurie. My Dad always used to get me a little something on Valentines Day, and it made up for all those years when the postman was empty-handed. After all, a card isn’t just for a husband or partner, it’s for anyone special. Cards can be bought online at Taab London. `
