Little Green Radicals

As you know, I love to introduce you to independent brands that are trying to do something different. Childrenswear brand, Little Green Radicals, is no exception. Fun prints, wearable designs, gorgeous colours and organic fabrics are their hallmark. Oh and their product is fair trade too. Big tick.

Did you see Panorama this week? I found it distressing and hard-hitting. It revealed the horrific truth of refugee children working in garment factories in Istanbul, making clothing for the UK. Sadly brands we know and trust were implicated, such as Marks and Spencer. Transparency isn’t an issue for Little Green Radicals. This is one company who can trace every garment, from the farmer who grows the organic cotton through to the person who sews on the labels. All their product is made in Fair trade factories.

Their AW16 collection comprises of rich autumnal colours; berry, petrol blue mustard and earth green. The n4family has gone bonkers over this Moon & Stars print. We love the deep petrol blue colour and playful print that manages to be unisex without being monochrome. Perfect for a little bit of sibling matching. I know they’ll hate it when they’re older, hee hee.

Unlike many childrenswear companies Little Green Radicals don’t just use organic jersey cotton. Their fabrics also include woven cotton, pictured here in Daisy’s skirt and Laurie’s shirt, and the lovely thick corduroy of Laurie’s dungarees. Which means their range is comprehensive, and perfect for these winter months.

One of our favourite items is the Sherpa cap. Made from organic cotton lined with shearling, it’ll keep Daisy toasty and warm throughout the winter. It comes in two prints, the Moon & Stars (pictured), and Woodland Flowers; there are also mitts to match too. Adorable.

We’re off to a wedding tomorrow and I’m going to put the kids in these lovely outfits. Daisy’s dress has a woven skirt and jersey top and I’ve added a cardi so she won’t get cold. I like the outfits because they are smart but also comfortable. Daisy can scamper about to her heart’s content, Laurie can throw up on his dungarees and I can just pop them in the washing machine at the end of the day. Essential really.
