airbnb? No, Wool bnb

“Baa baas,” otherwise known as sheep, are Daisy’s favourite animal, though pigs are a very close second. So when I was invited to visit the ‘Wool BnB,’ despite having a toddler and new born in tow, I decided to go. Mad I know.

You may well ask what is a Wool BnB? Well it’s a house where everything from interiors to fashion, is made of wool. It’s all part of The Campaign for Wool’s #WoolWeek which aims to educate us about the benefits of wool.

Many knitwear garments we buy today are made from acrylic and nylon yarns and not natural fibres such as cashmere, lambs wool or mohair. Before I started writing n4mummy, I was a knitwear buyer for New Look. The main reason we didn’t buy yarns made from real wool was purely down to cost.

And yet wool is a wonderful fibre, it’s completely natural, sustainable and recyclable and did I mention warm? When I’m shopping for a jumper I’ll always look for a high wool content as I know it’ll be a good quality garment that will last. Though you do have to be careful about how you store and wash wool. Jumpers made from acrylic look dog-eared within months, whereas wool lasts. But wool has other benefits too.

Did you know that merino wool is worn by spacemen? It’s a fibre that keeps you cool when it’s hot and warm when it’s cold, genius. It also doesn’t smell, is hypoallergenic and can be machine washable. For all these reasons superfine merino is the choice of yarn for Smalls, a childrenswear brand that sells a range of basics for children aged 0-14. Daisy has one of their merino vests, which she wore all summer as a top and is now keeping her warm under her clothes. I wrote a post about it a few months ago, to read it please click here.

Anyway, in the Wool BnB Smalls were showcasing their new sleepwear range in collaboration with organic sleepwear company The Bright Company. I thought you might like a sneak peak.

The garments aren’t cheap, the printed vest above is £32.50, but the point is you only need one, and having just sorted through bags and bags of children’s clothes post move I definitely think less is better.
