Teething. Enough said. It’s not fun. Sadly, Laurie has just reached this stage, boo hoo 🙁
Thankfully, some clever mumpreneurs have found some nifty solutions to ease our teething hell and we’ve been trying them out:
Matchstick Monkey
Described as the “teething lifesaver”, the Matchstick Monkey combines key features of other teething solutions in one brightly coloured toy. It’s a gum massager, teething gel applicator and toy all rolled into one. And the best part, Laurie can soothe himself. You see you can add teething gel to the toy, which will bring relief to the pain exactly where it hurts. Made from soft, non toxic silicone its design makes it really easy to for a baby to hold, so you’re not constantly picking it up.
In addition you can also freeze it, and to make sure it’s super clean, pop it in the dishwasher. Oh and the monkey’s tail also acts as a hook to attach it to your buggy, genius. As you can imagine this, this is now Laurie’s constant companion.
Bo & Bel
After feeding Laurie I often end up with a red raw chest, as he scratches and pulls at my clothes. I’ve given up wearing necklaces as so often he yanks them and I’m afraid they’ll break.
This is exactly the problem Vickie Hodges mum of twins Phoebe (Bo) and Isabel (Bel) found. So, she designed a range of stylish jewellery that is safe for a baby to put in their mouth, and that won’t break. It’s made from 100% food-grade silicone and is non toxic, lead free, BPA free, PVC free, mercury free, phthalate free and FDA approved, phew! Laurie now happily chews on my necklace. That is when I’m given a chance to wear it. I should mention that Daisy has taken rather a shine to this necklace, and I frequently find it around her neck. Obviously this isn’t suitable for her, but try telling that to Daisy!
They also have a great bangle in lots of fun colours, and this jewellery would, in my opinion, make a great present for a new mum.
