Does MUTU System Really Work? | A Review

Lifestyle Blogger Karen Maurice of n4mummy doing the MUTU system

Summer is here and the idea of getting into a bikini with a post baby belly fills most of us with dread. So, do you want to ditch your post baby belly? Well MUTU system might be the answer for you. It is a series of exercises designed to strengthen your pelvic floor, heal Diastasis Recti & help your body function as it should. But does MUTU System work? For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me doing the exercises on my Instagram Stories. And as I’ve had so many questions about how I’ve found it, I thought I write you my MUTU System Review.

Oh and I have a wonderful discount just for you, just keep on reading.

MUTU System | A Routine

The great, but challenging, thing about MUTU is that is requires discipline. A daily commitment to an 11 minute MUTU core exercise routine. It’s very gentle, and involves connecting your pelvic floor and stomach muscles to your breath and then adding movement to strengthen the muscles. I’ll confess, I initially found this a real struggle. But after a month or so found my groove. The key for me has been to do it as soon as I get up each morning, preferably before the children wake. Needless to say, it doesn’t work on days when Laurie decides 5:30am is morning.

MUTU System | Food

Each week you’re required to read a section about what food we should be fueling our bodies with. I actually loved this part of the system. Firstly because it’s not a diet, it doesn’t ask you to calorie count and it doesn’t make you feel guilty when you read it. Instead, it suggests what foods we should be eating and offers alternative snack ideas for crisps and chocolate.

“Eat Only Food That Wasn’t Made In A Factory”

It encourages you to eat real food, fresh fruit and veg that is locally sourced and organically grown. Also, to try new and different foods: red lentils and quinoa have now become a staple for us, frozen berries fill our freezer and I’ve switched my chocolate eating to 70% dark chocolate only. It’s a very family friendly, realistic approach to eating which feels achievable. Though I won’t lie, I still have days when I binge eat on all the wrong foods. Generally when I’ve had a terrible night’s sleep.

MUTU System | Intensive

Three times a week you have to complete a more intensive 25 minute exercise routine. It’s gets your heart going, works up a sweat and you can certainly feel your muscles the next day! But it is very easy to do in the comfort of your own home. Finding the time to do it with kids is difficult, unless you make MUTU System a priority. But that’s because I think finding time to do anything for yourself when you have children is a challenge. I just have to keep reminding myself, that I can only effectively look after my kids and husband if I am caring for myself.

So Does MUTU System Work? | The Results

Yes that’s the question, does MUTU System work? Headline news! My tummy is in such better shape. You can see the pictures here.

BEFORE

Does MUTU System work? Lifestyle blogger Karen Maurice's tummy before

When I started, back in November, I had a Diastasis Recti of three fingers wide. I can now proudly say that is just one ring finger wide. And it’s interesting, because I have noticed that I’ve started wearing, high-waisted and more fitted clothing again, much to my husband’s delight.

AFTER

When I started MUTU System, I wasn’t really finding any time to do any exercise and my eating was appalling. I’m now in a much better place on both counts, but could probably still do better! Particularly with the amount of chocolate I consume. The challenge continues.

MUTU Life

If, like me, discipline is something you struggle with then MUTU Life might be good for you. It is more expensive, but has many added benefits.

MUTU Life Meal Plans

My favourite part is the recipes and meal plans for when you have no idea what to cook. The chicken almond butter stir fry has gone down very well with the kids, and the cacao coconut balls are heavenly (and healthy!) You also get reminders text/email reminders from founder Wendy when you’ve missed a few days. Though you do have the option of pausing the course if you go on holiday or you just have a period where it’s going to be a real challenge to complete.

MUTU Life Workouts

The intensive workouts that come with the standard programme are great, but I did find that as I improved I wanted something more challenging. MUTU life comes with an app with a whole range of more advanced workouts at different levels and timings to suit your needs. Finally it also comes with the opportunity to chat to Wendy herself with the live monthly video calls. She is one inspiring lady and it’s a chance to ask questions and be motivated.

My Top Tips for doing the MUTU System

  • Start it once your child has a routine, it’ll be much easier to fit in.
  • Set yourself specific times of the day to do MUTU.
  • Get your husband/boyfriend/partner on board to support you and encourage you.
  • Don’t worry if you miss a day or week, you’re a mum kids will get ill, things will come up, just keep going through the programme
  • Remove food from your house that will be a temptation.
  • Don’t start it just before Christmas (like I did!) you’ll never succeed in eating well with all the Christmas parties and yummy food around.
  • If you struggle to keep motivated upgrade to MUTU Life for accountability.
  • Do it! Click here to banish that post baby tummy!

After the 2 years do you have no access at all? Not even videos to remind you and keep you doing it right?

      Hi Wendy,

Thanks for your question. And you are right after 2 years you lose access to the videos and your personal dashboard which is your course. However there are cheat sheets to each video that you can download to read. So you’d be able to keep hold of those. Do let me know if you have any more questions.

      Thanks

      Karen x
